In 1993-1996, the Automated System for Collecting and Forming of a Database of Machine-Readable Passports of the Citizens of the Republic of Belarus was created (“Passport” AS)

Objectives of system creation

issuance of documents in accordance with ICAO standard;

verification of legality of documents obtaining;

prevention of obtaining a second passport by one person;

prevention of the use of lost and stolen documents;

database search availability;

storing photographic images (passport photographs, fingerprints etc.);

increase of crimes detection and prevention.
Functions performed by the system

data entry from application forms. Enter photos, personal signature and fingerprints, followed by processing and encoding;

automatic creation of a personal code during the initial receipt of a passport;

printing machine-readable documents according to the ICAO standard;

printing and quality control of issued documents;

keeping records of empty forms;
-
keeping records of issued, rejected forms of documents, as well as accounting of invalid, withdrawn, lost and stolen documents and forms.
